"Place for Future" is a work of mixed media art based on the Chaiworawat’s direct experience of an unfinished house renovation which he had hoped would be the place to create a new family in the future. Chaiworawat aims to question and reveal the aftermath of the Cold War in terms of cheating in the real estate business.
“Place for Future” was created through the concept of “The Truth of Materials”, a key phrase from Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, a master of modern architecture, and the last director of the Bauhaus; this phrase
became the philosophy of the modern architecture which overturned a thousand years’ history of classic architecture. In contrast, the ever-present
modernity of today comes from a cost-effectiveness and a mass-produced industrial model, which has caused the economic model and consumption to change. For this reason, “Place for Future” uses the concept of the truth of materials in order to reveal the hidden cheating, which can almost be called the truth of the real estate business, through video documentation and damaged building materials as readymade art objects, tracing the errors that imply current social structural problems.
